What is log book servicing? Log Book Servicing is a proactive approach to car maintenance where regular inspections and small fixes keep your vehicle running smoothly and efficiently and prevent small problems turning into major damage and problems which could be very costly to repair. Every passenger car (and most commercials vehicles) is issued with a “Log Book” by the manufacturer which lays out the specified timing and agenda for your regular log book services. You should keep your log book in your glove box for reference and recording any details but we can also refer to our database to get the required information if you've misplaced your book. The schedule of the service will be a combination of both Time OR Distance. You may be tempted to delay your next log book service because your car is probably still driveable and it may not have reached BOTH the time and distance measures. While you obviously need to find availability in your budget and schedule, don't delay too long because wear and tear on the car will increase exponentially and could lead to damage which is many times more expensive than the log book service would have been. What's included? Every car is different and the agenda for each service changes according to the schedule which is why each vehicle is issued with a log book. Here are some examples of what can be included; Change Oil Check Coolant Check Car Battery Check Transmission Fluid Check Brake Fluid Check the Condition of the Air Filter Check Power Steering Fluid Check Spark Plugs Check Turn Signals Check Brake Lights Check Heating System Brake Check Belt Check Hose Check Tyre Rotation Coolant Sensor Check For a qualified Log Book Service at a competitive price, speak with the team at Alex's Auto Services or book online. Have more questions about your logbook service? What is a log book service? A log book service is a scheduled service carried out according to the intervals and requirements specified by your vehicle manufacturer. Depending on your vehicle’s age and kilometres travelled, different components, fluids and systems may need to be inspected, serviced or replaced. Do I have to go back to the dealership for log book servicing? No. You can choose a qualified independent workshop to carry out your log book servicing. The important thing is that the service is performed according to the manufacturer’s specifications and the appropriate parts and fluids are used. Alex’s Auto Services provides professional log book servicing right here in Botany, giving local motorists an alternative to dealership servicing. Will using an independent mechanic affect my new car warranty? Having your vehicle serviced by a qualified independent mechanic does not automatically void your new car warranty. Your vehicle needs to be serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements, and appropriate quality parts and fluids must be used. Our team follows the relevant manufacturer specifications when carrying out log book servicing. How often does my car need a log book service? Service intervals vary between manufacturers and models. Your vehicle may require servicing after a particular period of time, after travelling a certain number of kilometres, or whichever occurs first. Check your vehicle’s log book or speak with our team if you are unsure when your next service is due. What is included in a log book service? The exact work depends on the manufacturer’s scheduled requirements for your particular vehicle. A log book service may include an engine oil and filter change, fluid checks, brake inspections, tyre checks, battery checks, filters, belts, hoses and other important components. Some services are more comprehensive than others depending on the vehicle’s age and kilometres. What if I have lost my vehicle’s log book? Don’t panic. A physical log book is not always required for us to determine the appropriate servicing schedule. Our team can access servicing information and identify what is required for your vehicle. Keeping records of completed servicing is still recommended, particularly when it comes time to sell or trade your car. Can you service different makes and models? Yes. Alex's Auto Services can provide log book servicing for a wide variety of makes and models, including petrol, diesel, 4WD and many other passenger and commercial vehicles. Why is following the log book schedule important? Regular servicing helps identify wear and developing problems before they become more serious. It can also help maintain engine performance, fuel efficiency, vehicle safety and reliability while providing a documented service history. Putting off scheduled maintenance can allow relatively minor problems to develop into more expensive repairs. What happens if my mechanic finds another problem during the service? A log book service can sometimes identify issues that aren't specifically part of the scheduled maintenance, such as worn brakes, leaking components, deteriorated belts or other developing problems. If additional repairs are recommended, our team can explain what has been found and discuss the appropriate next steps with you. Is a log book service the same as a general car service? Not necessarily. A log book service follows the specific maintenance schedule set by your vehicle manufacturer. A general service may cover routine maintenance and inspections but isn't necessarily based on the manufacturer's particular scheduled requirements. If your vehicle has a log book servicing schedule, following it is generally the best way to make sure the required maintenance is completed at the correct intervals. Can log book servicing help my car’s resale value? Yes. A consistent and documented service history can be valuable when selling or trading a vehicle. It demonstrates that the vehicle has received regular maintenance throughout its life and can give prospective buyers greater confidence in how the car has been looked after. Where can I book a log book service in Botany? Alex’s Auto Services provides professional log book servicing from our workshop at 63 Bay Street, Botany NSW. New Car Service in Botany

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At Alex's Auto Services in Botany, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At Alex's Auto Services, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit Alex's Auto Services for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

When life gets busy, it’s easy to put off car servicing—especially if your vehicle seems to be running fine. But skipping regular maintenance can end up costing you far more than a routine service ever would. At Alex's Auto Services we often see preventable issues turn into expensive repairs simply because a vehicle hasn’t been serviced on time. Here’s why regular car servicing is one of the smartest investments you can make for your vehicle. Small Problems Are Cheaper to Fix Early Modern vehicles are complex machines. Minor issues like worn belts, dirty filters, low fluids, or failing sensors can quickly snowball into major mechanical failures if left unchecked. Regular servicing allows our technicians to identify and fix these problems early—before they lead to breakdowns or costly repairs. Improved Fuel Efficiency A well-maintained car runs more efficiently. Clean air filters, fresh engine oil, and properly inflated tyres all help your engine work less, meaning better fuel economy. If your car is overdue for a service, you may be spending more at the fuel pump without realising it. Reduced Risk of Breakdowns There’s never a convenient time to break down. Regular servicing significantly reduces the risk of unexpected failures by ensuring key components like the battery, cooling system, brakes, and belts are checked and maintained. This is especially important if you rely on your car daily or plan long trips. Protects Your Engine and Major Components Your engine is the most expensive part of your vehicle. Routine oil changes and inspections prevent excessive wear, overheating, and internal damage. Skipping services can shorten your engine’s lifespan dramatically—leading to repairs that cost thousands. Maintains Your Vehicle’s Resale Value A full service history is a big plus when it comes time to sell or trade in your vehicle. Buyers are far more confident purchasing a car that’s been regularly serviced, and it can significantly increase resale value. Keeps Your Car Safe on the Road Brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, and lights are all critical to your safety. Regular servicing ensures these components are inspected and working as they should, helping keep you and your passengers safe. Logbook Servicing Without Voiding Warranty If your vehicle is still under warranty, regular logbook servicing is essential. At Alex’s Auto Services, we carry out manufacturer-specified logbook services using quality parts—without voiding your new car warranty. How Often Should You Service Your Car? Most vehicles require servicing every 6 to 12 months or every 10,000–15,000km, whichever comes first. Your driving habits, vehicle age, and conditions can also affect service intervals. If you’re unsure, our team is happy to help you work out the right schedule. Regular car servicing isn’t an expense—it’s protection against bigger bills down the track. Whether you’re due for a routine service, logbook service, or just want peace of mind, Alex's Auto Services is here to help.

Skipping regular maintenance can end up costing you far more than a routine service ever would.
